The south to southwest facing slopes on weathered gneiss and schist are among the warmest spots in the Wachau and deliver very ripe grapes. On the nose the wine shows vineyard peach, citrus zest and stone fruit, joined by fine herbal notes and a hint of smokiness. On the palate the Smaragd is powerful yet precise, with juicy fruit, firm acidity and a smooth, polished texture. Dense, stony minerality gives length and a cool outline that balances the natural richness of the site.
