Weinhofmeisterei Mathias Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner Kollmütz Smaragd 2023 0,75l

Grüner Veltliner Smaragd Ried Kollmütz from Weinhofmeisterei Mathias Hirtzberger grows on steep stone terraces above Wösendorf in the Wachau. The vines are rooted in eroded paragneiss with fine layers of loess, giving the wine salty minerality and a lot of tension. On the nose it opens with ripe yellow tropical fruit, hints of apple and mango, plus gentle tobacco spice and a touch of orange zest. On the palate the Veltliner is dense and tightly woven, carried by a fine fruit sweetness, well balanced acidity and a creamy texture. The minerality feels cool and precise and leaves a subtle salty impression on the tongue. A long finish with exotic fruit, herbal spice and stony notes makes this a complex and powerful Wachau Smaragd.

Classic stainless steel tank ageing keeps fruit, freshness and saline minerality precisely in focus.

The grape variety: Grüner Veltliner

Grüner Veltliner is Austria's signature white grape, known for citrus, pear, herbs, white pepper and lively freshness.

It is superb with asparagus, schnitzel, seafood, salads and mildly spicy dishes, making it one of the most versatile white wine grapes.
