Xarel-lo

Although it has long been part of sparkling-wine blends with Macabeo and Parellada, Xarel-lo has become increasingly respected as a still wine grape. Its best examples show clear regional identity and more complexity than its understated reputation might suggest.

Which styles of Xarel-lo are there?

The traditional role of Xarel-lo is in sparkling wines, where it contributes body, acidity and structure to Cava and related Catalan sparkling styles. These wines can range from bright and fresh to long-aged and complex.
