Yves Cuilleron Cote Rotie Lieu-dit Bonnivieres 2020 0,75l

Yves Cuilleron’s Côte-Rôtie Lieu-dit Bonnivières comes from a steep east-facing slope of mica-schist in Ampuis. The terraces are planted exclusively with Syrah at low yields; the grapes are hand picked, carefully sorted and fermented using traditional methods. The wine is then aged for an extended period in oak barrels, gaining depth, polished tannins and subtle toast. The bouquet combines black cherry, cassis and blackberry with violet, graphite, black pepper and a touch of smoke. On the palate Bonnivières is dense and concentrated yet refined, with firm ripe tannins and cool, schist-driven minerality. A powerful but elegant Côte-Rôtie, perfect with rib-eye steak, rack of lamb, game birds or savoury mushroom dishes.

Maturation in barrique gives the Côte-Rôtie depth, fine oak spice and an elegant structure.

Yves Cuilleron

In the northern Côtes du Rhône, around Chavanay and Ampuis, Yves Cuilleron stands for “haute‑couture” viticulture: terrace by terrace, plot by plot, matched to Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. The family domaine was founded in 1920; Yves took over in 1987, expanded the holdings and built a modern cellar to pursue truly tailor‑made vinifications. In 1996 he also helped launch the revival of the ancient Seyssuel hillsides with Les Vins de Vienne....

The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz

Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.

It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice. Syrah / Shiraz
