Yves Cuilleron Saint Joseph Lieu-dit Digue blanc 2021 0,75l

Saint-Joseph Lieu-dit Digue Blanc by Yves Cuilleron comes from a very steep, south-facing slope in Saint-Pierre-de-Boeuf with poor granite and pale migmatite soils. The single parcel is planted solely with Roussanne; the grapes are hand harvested, fermented with native yeasts and aged for several months on lees in oak. The nose offers white flowers, fresh citrus, yellow apple and stone fruit with a hint of honey. On the palate Digue is full-bodied yet taut, showing creamy texture, juicy fruit and lively, mineral-driven acidity. A touch of salinity and discreet oak bring depth and a long, gently spicy finish. A characterful Northern Rhône white that pairs beautifully with fine fish, shellfish, poultry in light sauces or aged goats’ cheeses.

Fine-lees ageing in oak casks gives the Roussanne creamy texture while preserving mineral tension.

Yves Cuilleron

In the northern Côtes du Rhône, around Chavanay and Ampuis, Yves Cuilleron stands for “haute‑couture” viticulture: terrace by terrace, plot by plot, matched to Syrah, Viognier, Marsanne and Roussanne. The family domaine was founded in 1920; Yves took over in 1987, expanded the holdings and built a modern cellar to pursue truly tailor‑made vinifications. In 1996 he also helped launch the revival of the ancient Seyssuel hillsides with Les Vins de Vienne....

The grape variety: Roussanne

Roussanne is a Rhône white grape known for pear, quince, flowers, herbs, honeyed notes and a textured palate. It is often blended with Marsanne.

It pairs with roast poultry, seafood in creamy sauces, mushrooms, veal, squash and soft cheeses. A refined choice for richer white wine styles. Roussanne
