Benanti Etna Rosso Etna doc rosso 2022 0,75l

Benanti Etna Rosso Etna DOC Rosso blends grapes from several sites on the slopes of Mount Etna and offers a very pure expression of Nerello Mascalese, often supported by a touch of Nerello Cappuccio. The bouquet delivers red cherry, raspberry and pomegranate along with dried herbs, pepper, citrus peel and a hint of smoke. On the palate the wine is medium-bodied, juicy and full of tension, with fine-grained, gently gripping tannins and lively, cool acidity. Its structure feels more Burgundian than typically southern Italian, allowing the volcanic minerality to shine through. The finish is energetic and elegant, combining red fruit, spice and subtle ash-and-stone notes. A highly versatile Etna Rosso that complements everything from pasta with ragù and grilled poultry to lamb and roasted Mediterranean vegetables.

Predominant stainless steel ageing with a small barrique share preserves the red fruit and adds fine structure.

The grape variety: Nerello Mascalese

Nerello Mascalese is Sicily’s great Etna red grape, producing elegant wines with red berries, herbs, smoky spice, bright acidity and fine tannins.

It pairs beautifully with grilled tuna, lamb, tomato pasta, mushrooms, aubergine and Mediterranean dishes with herbs. Nerello Mascalese
