Bodegas Quitapenas

In Málaga on Spain’s Costa del Sol, Bodegas Quitapenas preserves a family wine tradition whose roots reach back to 1670. After phylloxera forced a move from Axarquía, Francisco Suárez Pineda founded the house in Miraflores del Palo in 1880. A welcoming stop for travellers became one of the city’s historic wine names, now managed by the fifth generation.

The portfolio centres on the Málaga and Sierras de Málaga denominations. Moscatel de Alejandría and Pedro Ximénez shape the sweet-wine heritage, joined by dry whites and reds, sparkling wines and vermouth. Careful vinification, cask ageing and traditional methods unite regional identity with contemporary precision.

Since 2004 the winery has operated on the Carretera de Guadalmar and remains the only visitable bodega within Málaga city. Historic presses, mature bottles and a spacious ageing hall reveal a living continuity, while modern facilities support its international outlook.
