M. Chapoutier Ermitage Le Méal Rouge comes from a warm mid-slope vineyard on the Hermitage hill where stony pebbles and sand help ripen syrah to great concentration. Old vines farmed biodynamically deliver small, intensely flavoured berries that are aged in oak for additional depth. The bouquet opens with blackberry jam, black cherry and blueberries, wrapped in smoke, licorice, dried herbs and hints of orange peel. On the palate Le Méal is full-bodied, velvety and powerful, with layered ripe tannins and a long, mouth-coating finish. The combination of richness, minerality and precision makes it a benchmark Hermitage to pour with braised beef, lamb, game and rich mushroom dishes.

Biodynamic farming, living soils and meticulous parcel work define their steep slopes from Hermitage to Saint‑Joseph and Cornas, on granite, rolled stones and clay‑limestone seams....
The Great Vertical Tasting: A wine through the mirror of time.
Anyone who compares wine across several vintages discovers its development in a particularly impressive way. A vertical tasting reveals how style, maturity, structure and aromas change over time – and helps to find the right vintage for personal taste or a special occasion.
The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz
Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.
It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice.
