M.Chapoutier Ermitage rouge l'Ermite 2020 0,75l

M. Chapoutier Ermitage L’Ermite Rouge comes from the highest, most exposed granite outcrops around the chapel of Saint-Christophe on the Hermitage hill. Biodynamically farmed syrah vines rooted in poor, stony soils deliver tiny yields of intensely concentrated fruit. The nose is profound, showing cassis, blackberry and blackcurrant pastille alongside ink, black pepper, smoke and crushed rock. On the palate L’Ermite is powerful, vertical and extremely precise, with firm yet velvety tannins and a cool, granite-driven freshness. The finish is very long and savoury, confirming this as one of the grandest red Hermitages, best served with prime beef, game, slow-cooked lamb and dishes with rich jus.

Ageing for 18–20 months in new and one-year casks gives the wine structure, depth and harmonious power.

M.Chapoutier

In Northern Rhône, the Maison M. Chapoutier has shaped the Côtes du Rhône Nord since 1808—then rewrote its modern chapter in 1990 when Michel Chapoutier took the helm. Biodynamic farming, living soils and meticulous parcel work define their steep slopes from Hermitage to Saint‑Joseph and Cornas, on granite, rolled stones and clay‑limestone seams....

The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz

Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.

It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice. Syrah / Shiraz
