M.Chapoutier Ermitage rouge Les Gréffieux 2022 0,75l
M. Chapoutier Ermitage Les Greffieux Rouge comes from parcels at the foot of the Hermitage hill on alluvial terraces of clay studded with rounded stones. The wine is made from hand-harvested syrah and matured in oak barrels. The bouquet reveals blackberry, cassis and blackcurrant along with violets, ink, black pepper and a smoky touch. On the palate Les Greffieux is full-bodied, silky and aromatic, with fine-grained ripe tannins and a long, harmonious finish. Its generous yet structured character makes it an ideal Hermitage to pour with grilled lamb, beef, game dishes and aged cheeses. With a few years of bottle age, additional layers of spice, leather and savoury complexity emerge.
In Northern Rhône, the Maison M. Chapoutier has shaped the Côtes du Rhône Nord since 1808—then rewrote its modern chapter in 1990 when Michel Chapoutier took the helm. Biodynamic farming, living soils and meticulous parcel work define their steep slopes from Hermitage to Saint‑Joseph and Cornas, on granite, rolled stones and clay‑limestone seams....

The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz
Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.
It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice.
