Château d’Yquem, the sole Premier Cru Supérieur of Sauternes, is a benchmark for noble sweet wines. Its vineyards crown the highest point of the appellation and sit on a patchwork of sandy-gravel and clay-limestone soils planted mainly with Sémillon and Sauvignon Blanc. The grape variety: Sémillon
Sémillon is a classic white grape of Bordeaux and Sauternes, also famous in Australia's Hunter Valley. It offers citrus, wax, honey, texture and ageing potential.
It pairs with shellfish, roast chicken, creamy sauces, mushrooms, soft cheese, foie gras and fruit desserts. A refined white grape for dry and sweet wines.
