Château Lafleur Gazin Pomerol 2017 0,75l
Château Lafleur-Gazin lies on the Pomerol plateau between Lafleur and Gazin and farms just under eight hectares planted mainly with Merlot and an unusually high share of Cabernet Franc. The vines, averaging about 30 years of age, are rooted in a patchwork of gravel, clay, sand, silt and iron-rich soils that bring both tension and spice to the blend. Grapes are harvested by hand, vinified by parcel and aged for roughly eighteen to twenty months in French oak barrels with a moderate proportion of new wood. The bouquet reveals ripe plum, black cherry and red berries alongside violet, cocoa and a hint of truffle. On the palate Lafleur-Gazin is silky yet well structured, with ripe, polished tannins and a vibrant lift. The smooth, gently spicy and mineral finish underlines the estate’s refined, classically styled expression of Pomerol.
Ageing in French oak barrels with a moderate share of new oak rounds out the Merlot fruit and gives this Pomerol structure.
