Cabernet Franc
Cabernet Franc is a classic red grape variety from France and an important parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. It is valued for fragrant red fruit, leafy-herbal notes, fresh acidity and tannins that are usually finer and less massive than Cabernet Sauvignon. The Loire Valley is the reference point for varietal Cabernet Franc, especially Chinon, Bourgueil and Saumur-Champigny. It is also a key grape in Bordeaux blends and has become increasingly respected in regions from Italy to Canada, the United States and South America.
