Epu is the second wine of Chile’s prestigious estate Almaviva and comes from the Maipo Valley, where Bordeaux varieties achieve remarkable finesse. The bouquet offers dark, concentrated aromas of cassis, blackberry and plum, framed by hints of spice, cedar wood and subtle dark chocolate. On the palate, Epu is powerful, full-bodied and layered, yet polished and remarkably smooth. Fine-grained tannins provide structure and length without dominating the juicy, ripe fruit. This harmonious, modern red wine shows the Almaviva style in a more approachable interpretation and finishes with a long, spicy aftertaste. A great match for braised beef, lamb, richly seasoned barbecue dishes or mature hard cheeses.

12 months in French barriques with a small proportion of new oak round out the fruit while keeping the wine approachable.
