Promontory Napa Valley comes from a secluded mountainside between Oakville and Yountville that the Harlan family long considered a hidden territory. Vines rooted in poor, rocky soils give a Cabernet Sauvignon-based wine of striking tension and minerality. The bouquet layers blackcurrant, blackberry and dark plum with notes of graphite, cedar and wild herbs. On the palate it is powerful, deep and finely sculpted, with tightly knit, ultra-fine tannins. Lively acidity adds freshness and underlines its capacity to age. The long finish echoes dark fruit, tobacco and crushed rock. A majestic partner for aged beef, game or lamb from the grill.
