Joseph Phelps Insignia 2019 0,75l

Insignia by Joseph Phelps is the estate s flagship cuvée and a benchmark among Bordeaux style reds from Napa Valley. Grapes are drawn from selected estate vineyards in the valley and on surrounding hillsides, each lot vinified separately. The bouquet reveals blackcurrant, blackberry and ripe cherry with scents of violet, cedar, vanilla, cocoa and mocha. On the palate Insignia is silky, concentrated and extremely precise, delivering layered dark fruit, deep spice notes and powerful yet velvety tannins. Fresh acidity and subtle minerality give lift and poise. The finish is very long, complex and noble. A great Napa blend for fine cuts of beef, lamb, game and mature hard cheeses.

Twenty-four months in 100% new French oak concentrates the cuvée and gives it depth, complexity and elegant length.

Joseph Phelps

In Napa Valley, near St. Helena, California, a bold vision took shape in 1973: at Joseph Phelps Vineyards (California) a former ranch became an estate built around the art of blending. In 1974 the house debuted Insignia—widely cited as California’s first proprietary Bordeaux-style blend—setting a tone that still defines the winery: each vintage is judged by what the vineyards offer, not by a recipe....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Cabernet Sauvignon
