Clos les Lunelles Côtes de Castillon 2016 0,75l

Clos les Lunelles is perched on a high clay-limestone plateau in Sainte-Colombe in the Côtes de Castillon and is part of the Gérard Perse family of estates. The vineyard is planted mainly with merlot, completed by cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc, and produces powerful, mineral-driven reds. Very low yields, meticulous canopy management and ageing in French oak barrels create great density and concentration. The bouquet delivers dark cherry, blackberry and blackcurrant with cocoa, coffee, liquorice and a hint of smoke. On the palate Clos les Lunelles is deep, opulent and structured, with firm tannins and a pronounced, saline mineral streak. The long, spicy and earthy finish makes it a striking Bordeaux to pour with robust meat dishes, game, mature hard cheeses and rich stews.

Ageing in new oak for 18 to 24 months underlines the dense fruit and powerful style of the wine.
