Château Hosanna Pomerol 2021 0,75l

Château Hosanna is a tiny four-and-a-half-hectare jewel on the Pomerol plateau, owned by the Jean-Pierre Moueix family. The vines grow on a rare mix of blue clay and red gravel with iron-rich subsoils. Around 70% Merlot and 30% Cabernet Franc, many of them old vines, produce naturally low yields. The bouquet is packed with dark berry fruit, black cherry and plum, joined by violet, truffle, subtle toast and warm spice. On the palate Hosanna is silky and opulent yet refined, with deep, layered fruit, polished tannins and a long, velvety finish that captures the sensual side of top Pomerol.

Ageing in French barriques integrates the fruity Merlot character and gives this medium-bodied Pomerol fine definition.

Château Hosanna

High on the Pomerol plateau, the tiny patchwork of Château Hosanna feels like a distilled essence of the appellation: barely 4.5 hectares, wedged among illustrious neighbours yet unmistakably its own. Vines were already tended here by the de May family in the 16th century; until 1999 the estate was known as Certan‑Giraud, before joining the Jean‑Pierre Moueix family....

The grape variety: Merlot

Merlot is a famous red grape known for plum, black cherry, soft tannins and a smooth, rounded palate. It is central to Bordeaux and widely planted worldwide.

Its approachable structure makes it excellent with roast meats, mushrooms, tomato pasta, burgers, lamb and mild cheeses. Merlot
