Château Cassagne Haut Canon La Truffiere Canon Fronsac 1995 0,75l

Château Cassagne Haut-Canon La Truffière is perched on one of the highest points of Fronsac, on a mosaic of clay-limestone soils, Fronsac molasse and a limestone plateau planted with truffle oaks. The blend is based on Merlot with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon from vines averaging around forty years of age. In the cellar each plot is vinified separately and part of the wine matures in new French oak. The bouquet offers ripe black cherry, blackberry and cassis with notes of liquorice, spice and cedar. On the palate La Truffière is powerful and dense yet finely woven, with polished tannins, lively acidity and a long, savoury, mineral-tinged finish that clearly reflects its Canon-Fronsac terroir.

Eighteen months in barriques give La Truffière structure and depth, while barrel ageing rounds out its powerful elegance.
