Château Haut-Brion Pessac-Léognan rouge 1cc. 2019 1,5l
Château Haut-Brion is the only estate outside the Médoc ranked as a First Growth in the 1855 classification and sits in the suburb of Pessac just south of Bordeaux. Around fifty hectares of red vines grow on deep gravel banks over clay, sand and limestone, planted with Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and a little Petit Verdot. The bouquet reveals dark berries, cassis and plum with tobacco, cedar, graphite and a hint of smoke. On the palate Haut-Brion is concentrated yet silk-smooth, with beautifully ripe tannins, cool, vibrant acidity and a layered, very long finish. It is a benchmark Pessac-Léognan, combining power, finesse and unmistakable personality.
Twenty months in new barriques give the wine depth, complexity and a precise, long-lasting structure.
