Château Bouscassé Madiran 1999 0,75l

Château Bouscassé Madiran is the flagship wine of Alain Brumont in South-West France. The vines are rooted in clay-limestone soils around Maumusson-Laguian and the blend is based on Tannat with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc adding backbone and complexity. According to the estate, the wine delivers aromas of blackberries and blackcurrants with hints of liquorice, dark chocolate and savoury spice. On the palate it is powerful and full-bodied yet well balanced, with dense ripe tannins and plenty of freshness. The long, flavourful finish makes this Madiran a superb match for slow-cooked beef, lamb dishes, hearty southwestern cuisine and mature cheeses.

Château Bouscassé

At the base of the slopes in Maumusson‑Laguian, in Madiran, Château Bouscassé—Alain Brumont’s family estate—rests on roughly 50 hectares of clay‑limestone soils along a distinct escarpment. This is Madiran at its most serious: well‑drained parcels, cool nights and a terroir that favors structure over easy softness....

The grape variety: Tannat

Tannat produces dark, full-bodied red wines with blackberry fruit, firm tannins, spice and savory depth. The style can be rustic and traditional or polished and modern.

It is a strong choice with grilled meats, stews, hard cheeses and barbecue, and it is especially exciting for anyone looking for powerful reds with character. Tannat
