Dominus Estate is a benchmark Napa Valley red that marries Californian ripeness with Bordeaux‑like precision. The blend, dominated by Cabernet Sauvignon with a dash of Cabernet Franc, comes from the historic Napanook vineyard at the foot of the Mayacamas range. Aromas of blackcurrant, blackberry and plum are joined by violets, graphite, cedar and tobacco leaf. On the palate the wine is full‑bodied, dense and tightly knit, with firm but refined tannins and a cool, mineral edge. Layers of dark fruit unfold into a very long, focused finish. This is a cellar‑worthy wine that shines with fine cuts of beef, lamb, game and other richly flavoured dishes.
In the heart of Napa Valley, Dominus Estate in California feels more like stewardship than showmanship: Christian Moueix founded the project in the early 1980s on the historic Napanook Vineyard near Yountville, a site whose story reaches back to Napa’s beginnings in the 19th century. Farming is parcel-driven and exacting, with yields and picking dates tuned to the season’s rhythm....
The Great Vertical Tasting: A wine through the mirror of time.
Anyone who compares wine across several vintages discovers its development in a particularly impressive way. A vertical tasting reveals how style, maturity, structure and aromas change over time – and helps to find the right vintage for personal taste or a special occasion.
The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon
