Lions de Batailley Pauillac 2020 0,75l

Lions de Batailley is the second wine of Château Batailley and is sourced from gravelly Pauillac vineyards. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot and other classic Bordelais varieties. The nose shows cassis, blackberry, licorice and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is creamy in texture with ripe, supple tannins and fresh acidity that brings length. It is deliberately crafted to be approachable in its youth while still capable of short- to medium-term ageing. A classically styled Pauillac that pairs well with steak, lamb or hearty vegetarian dishes.

For Lions de Batailley 2020, a dry, full-bodied and oak-influenced Pauillac style is documented; a specific ageing duration could not be confirmed for the vintage.

As the second wine of Château Batailley—rated Cinquième Grand Cru Classé in 1855—it echoes the gravelly rises by the Gironde and the Cabernet-led identity of the appellation, framed in a more approachable register....

The grape variety: Cabernet Sauvignon

Cabernet Sauvignon is a world-famous red grape producing dark, structured wines with cassis, blackberry, cedar, firm tannins and ageing potential.

The variety is exciting because it combines power with recognisable character. Pair Cabernet Sauvignon with steak, roast beef, lamb, venison, burgers, mushrooms and hard cheeses. Cabernet Sauvignon
