Château Sociando Mallet Haut Médoc 2020 0,75l

Château Sociando-Mallet is a highly regarded Haut-Médoc estate near the Gironde, famed for structured, long-lived wines. Vines grow on a gravel plateau over clay and limestone and are planted mainly with cabernet sauvignon, merlot and a touch of cabernet franc. The bouquet offers blackcurrant, blackberry and plum with notes of tobacco, cedar, graphite and a hint of orange zest. On the palate the wine is dense, juicy and energetic, with firm yet ripe tannins and cool freshness. A slightly saline, long finish underlines its classic left-bank style and makes it a fine partner for rib-eye steak, lamb, hearty braises and savoury dishes.

12 months of barrique ageing gives the wine density, structure and a spicy, classically styled depth.

The modern turning point came in 1969, when Jean Gautreau took over a neglected property and rebuilt it with merchant instincts and stubborn precision....
