Château Certan de May is located on the prime Pomerol plateau, just across the road from Vieux Château Certan, on a mix of clay and gravel soils. The compact vineyard of a little over five hectares is planted mainly with Merlot supported by Cabernet Franc and a small share of Cabernet Sauvignon, with vines averaging several decades of age. Fermentation is carried out plot by plot and the wine then matures in oak barrels, a significant proportion of them new. The bouquet reveals dark berries, plum and black cherry with hints of truffle, spice and cedar. On the palate Certan de May is concentrated and velvety, with ripe tannins, well-judged freshness and a long, layered finish that captures the character of great Pomerol.

Ageing in oak barriques brings depth, spice and structure to this powerful Pomerol.
