Domaines Alain Brumont Torus,Madiran 2019 0,75l

Torus is Alain Brumont’s modern take on Madiran, a Tannat-driven red that combines power with immediate drinkability. The fruit comes from relatively young vines planted on pebble and clay-limestone soils in the Montus and Bouscassé terroirs. On the nose, dark berries, black cherry and blackberry are joined by pepper, liquorice, tobacco and a faint smoky edge. The palate is full-bodied and dense, packed with dark fruit and framed by spicy, firmly structured tannins and juicy acidity. Despite its volume, Torus remains rounded and supple thanks to the ripeness of the tannins and the wine’s generous fruit core. The finish is long, savoury and marked by black fruit and mineral notes. A contemporary yet clearly terroir-driven Madiran, made to accompany barbecues, robust meat dishes, stews or richly flavoured casseroles.

One year of maturation on fine lees in tank provides volume and rounded texture without putting oak notes in the foreground.
