Château Labégorce Margaux cb 2019 1,5l
Château Labégorce is a historic estate in Margaux with origins dating back to the 14th century. Its roughly seventy hectares of vines are spread over gravel, sand and clay soils, with some limestone giving extra finesse. The vineyard is planted with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, and the average vine age is around thirty years, with some much older plots. Hand harvesting, plot-by-plot vinification and ageing in French oak barrels, a proportion of them new, bring both depth and polish. The bouquet offers cassis, dark berries and cherry with floral notes, gentle spice and cedar. On the palate Labégorce is medium-bodied and silky, with ripe tannins, lively acidity and a long, harmoniously spicy Margaux finish.
Ageing in French barriques with 40 to 50 percent new oak gives this Margaux elegance, fine tannins and subtle oak notes.
