Château Laroque Saint Emilion gc. 2021 0,75l

Château Laroque is a striking Grand Cru Classé estate north-east of Saint-Émilion with around sixty-one hectares, the largest single vineyard in the appellation. The vines grow on a clay-limestone plateau underpinned by hard limestone in Saint-Christophe-des-Bardes, perfectly suited to Merlot with supporting Cabernet Franc and a touch of Cabernet Sauvignon. The average vine age is about forty-five years, yielding deeply rooted vines and naturally low production. In the cellar, individual parcels are vinified separately and the wine is matured in French oak barrels and partly in larger vessels. The bouquet offers ripe red and black fruits, plum and black cherry with violet, chalk, spice and a hint of graphite. On the palate this Saint-Émilion is juicy and tense yet suave, with ripe tannins, bright acidity and a fine limestone-driven minerality. The long, harmonious finish combines depth and elegance, making Laroque a particularly distinctive voice of the plateau terroir.

Château Laroque

Perched above Saint‑Émilion on a rocky limestone plateau near Saint‑Christophe‑des‑Bardes, Château Laroque feels more like a fortress than a winery. Its story reaches back to a 12th‑century tower, while the château as we know it was shaped in the 17th century under the Marquis de Rochefort‑Lavie....
