Château Tour Maillet is a tiny, roughly 2.2-hectare family estate in Pomerol run by the Lagardère family. Old merlot vines grow on siliceous gravel soils with layers of clay and limestone, giving naturally concentrated fruit. The wine offers aromas of black cherry, blackberry and plum with dark chocolate, violets and sweet spice. On the palate it is full-bodied yet supple, with ripe, fine-grained tannins and juicy acidity. A long, fruit-driven and gently spicy finish makes this Pomerol an excellent partner for lamb, veal, beef and refined mushroom dishes.
12 months of barrique ageing with around 50 percent new wood gives this Pomerol a clear, classic oak frame.
