Château Bourgneuf Vayron Pomerol 2018 0,375l
Château Bourgneuf is a long-established family estate in the heart of Pomerol. Its vines, mostly Merlot with a share of Cabernet Franc, are rooted in gravelly clay and deep clay soils rich in iron, a combination that gives the wines depth, warmth and spice. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled concrete tanks, followed by many months of ageing in oak barrels, a proportion of them new. The bouquet reveals dark cherry, plum and blackberry with hints of cocoa, tobacco and dried herbs. On the palate Château Bourgneuf is full-bodied, dense and generous, with velvety tannins, well-judged freshness and a long, layered finish – a Pomerol of real character.
Ageing in French oak barrels supports density, ripe fruit and complex Pomerol structure; the source lists only a time range.
