| Château Brane-Cantenac is a long-established 2nd Growth in Margaux and a benchmark for the appellation. Its 75 hectares of vineyards lie on the renowned Brane plateau with deep gravel soils. Cabernet Sauvignon leads the blend, supported by Merlot, Cabernet Franc and a touch of Carménère, and the wine typically ages for around eighteen months in French oak barrels, most of them new. The bouquet reveals red and black berries, cherry and cassis, with notes of tobacco, vanilla, cedar and graphite. On the palate Brane-Cantenac is silky, layered and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins, fresh acidity and a long, gently saline finish – a refined Margaux with excellent ageing capacity. | |
