From the Bigliana cru in Goriška Brda, this Chardonnay combines Slovenian terroir with a distinctly Burgundian sense of precision. The vines average about 25 years of age and grow on Ponca soils rich in marl, sandstone and limestone. A north-eastern exposure at 165 metres helps preserve freshness. Grapes are hand harvested, vinified whole and fermented with indigenous yeasts. Maturation follows for twelve months in used Burgundy barrels and another twelve in stainless steel. Grapefruit, peach, honey and hazelnut shape the aromatic profile, with restrained oak in the background. The palate is mineral, balanced and persistent, pairing ripe fruit with lively acidity.
