Don Papa Gayuma is a distinctive rum from Negros that marries the house’s trademark sweetness with a smoky twist. Molasses distillates are aged in ex-bourbon casks and finished in peaty Islay whisky barrels. The nose combines vanilla, dark chocolate and orange peel with notes of smoke, tobacco leaf and exotic incense. On the palate, Gayuma is surprisingly soft and rounded, offering sweet herbal smoke, cocoa, blood orange, clove and a touch of mint over subtle peat. The finish is long, spicy and gently smoky, inviting slow contemplation. A fascinating option for rum drinkers who enjoy a whisper of peat.
