| Cono Sur Reserva Especial Carmenere comes from selected plots in Chile’s Colchagua Valley and shows the grape at its most concentrated yet elegant. Vines rooted in well-drained, gravelly-clay soils are farmed sustainably and harvested at optimal ripeness. After fermentation the wine spends several months in French oak, gaining spice, structure and polish. The bouquet displays blackberries, blackcurrants and black cherries with notes of chocolate, mocha, red berries and sweet oak. On the palate this carmenere is full-bodied, rich and velvety, with ripe, rounded tannins and balanced acidity. A long, spicy, fruit-laden finish makes it an excellent choice with grilled beef, hearty stews, mature cheeses and boldly seasoned Latin-inspired dishes. | |
