Heaven's Door Sauvignon Blanc from Ewald Zweytick takes its name from a rock song and has become one of the estate’s cult wines. The grapes come from selected sites in southern Styria and the wine is matured in barriques. The bouquet reveals a profound array of ripe yellow fruit, citrus zest, hints of tropical sweetness, wild herbs and smoky tobacco leaf. On the palate Heaven's Door is powerful, dense and silky, carried by a fine core of acidity and a pronounced, almost salty minerality. Despite its concentration the Sauvignon remains precise and elegant, with a very long, spicy and fruity finish. A distinctive, high-impact white wine for special occasions, pairing beautifully with oven-baked fish, shellfish, rich vegetable dishes or mature cheeses.
