Glenfarclas Family Cask 1986 from refill butt cask 4774 is a beautifully mature Speyside single malt that highlights the distillery’s elegant side. Long ageing in a refill sherry butt has married gentle oak spice with restrained sweetness. The nose offers dried apricot, orange zest, malt toffee, nuts and subtle herbal notes. On the palate it is silky, balanced and complex, showing flavours of dried fruit, caramel, baking spice and a hint of dark chocolate. The measured cask influence leaves plenty of room for classic Glenfarclas fruit and leads into a long, refined finish. A characterful, well-aged dram with impressive depth and poise.
