Glenfarclas Family Cask 1999 from sherry butt no. 5212 is a robust cask-strength bottling with pronounced sherry character. Long ageing in the butt has produced a nose of caramel, sweet malt, soaked cereals, broth, green pepper, graphite and leather. On the palate it is oily, dense and intense, showing assorted nuts, dried fruits, spiced cake and dark sugars. The high natural strength brings power and structure, leading into a very long, warming and slightly dry finish. A demanding, personality-rich Glenfarclas best enjoyed by experienced whisky lovers.
