Gran Araucano Cabernet Sauvignon is the flagship wine of Hacienda Araucano in Chile’s Colchagua Valley. The grapes come from very old, partly ungrafted vines around Santa Cruz and are carefully harvested by hand. The nose shows intense blackcurrant, ripe cherry, cassis, thyme, garrigue herbs and a touch of cedar. On the palate the wine is powerful and concentrated yet silky, with tightly knit, ripe tannins. Extended ageing in Bordeaux barrels adds nuances of dark chocolate, tobacco and vanilla. A complex, age-worthy Cabernet Sauvignon that pairs beautifully with steak, game and savoury braised dishes.
