Knoll Grüner Veltliner Schütt Smaragd 2024 0,75l

Gruner Veltliner Ried Schuett Smaragd from Weingut Knoll is sourced from a very stony site at the base of the Loibenberg in the Wachau. The bouquet combines yellow apple, ripe quince, meadow herbs and a hint of passion fruit with the variety s signature peppery spice. On the palate this Smaragd is powerful and compact yet cool in expression. Juicy pome fruit is wrapped in dark minerality and fine herbal tones. Firm acidity provides drive and length. The finish is long, savoury and slightly salty. A serious Wachau white for structured fish dishes, roast poultry and richly flavoured cuisine. It is a wine that rewards patient sipping and shows even more detail with a little time in the glass.

Large oak casks and stainless steel combine power, precision and the mineral structure of Ried Schütt.

Viticulture has been part of the family story since 1825; the first bottles appeared in the 1950s, and since 1962 the baroque Saint Urban label has become one of the region’s most recognisable signatures. As a member of Vinea Wachau, the house helped define what classic Wachau can be....
