Moric Blaufränkisch Ried Schwemmer Lutzmannsburg is often described as the most powerful member of the single-vineyard trilogy. The nose is intense and multi-layered, with blackberry, sloe, dark cherry and blood orange, supported by smoky limestone, pepper and savoury herbs. On the palate the wine is full-bodied and dense, with plenty of extract and firm, crumbly tannins. Despite its richness it remains balanced, thanks to lively acidity and a strong mineral backbone. The structure recalls great wines from classic European regions while clearly expressing its Burgenland origin. The long finish is spicy, stony and persistent. A highly expressive Blaufränkisch that calls for game, slow-cooked beef or deeply flavoured vegetarian dishes.
