Weingut Gebrüder Nittnaus Blaufränkisch Edelgrund 2022 0,75l

Blaufränkisch Edelgrund from Gebrüder Nittnaus is grown in the warm surroundings of Gols and shows the variety in a precise, elegant style. Vines rooted in deep soils with gravel and loam deliver ripe yet fresh Blaufränkisch fruit. The nose reveals dark berries, black cherry and a hint of blackberry, joined by floral tones, fine spice and a touch of orange zest. On the palate the wine is juicy, firm and savoury, with well-defined acidity, grippy but ripe tannins and vibrant fruit. Cool, earthy minerality provides extra dimension. The long finish recalls red and dark berries, subtle herbal notes and a hint of chocolate. A complex Blaufränkisch that partners beautifully with game birds, braised beef or hearty vegetarian dishes.

Maturation split equally between stainless steel and used barriques combines precise fruit with fine, elegant spice.

The grape variety: Blaufränkisch

Blaufränkisch is a Central European red grape known for dark cherry, pepper, fresh acidity and structured tannins. It is especially important in Austria and Hungary.

The grape is exciting because it combines elegance with savoury spice. Pair Blaufränkisch with duck, pork, lamb, goulash, mushrooms, sausages and hard cheeses.
