Planteray Single Cask Barbados Saint Estephe Finish is a limited bottling from the West Indies Rum Distillery that spends its final maturation in red wine casks from Saint-Estèphe after ageing in bourbon and Ferrand cognac barrels. The nose is distinctive, with aromas of red wine, macerated sour cherries, berries and brioche alongside vanilla and pastry-like sweetness. On the palate the rum is dense and structured, showing vanilla, apricot, sweet cherry and a fine, wine-driven acidity. The tannins and spice from the casks frame the tropical rum core rather than hiding it. A long, warming finish with red fruit, gentle oak and spice underlines the single cask’s contemplative character.
