Prunotto Barbaresco 1997 0,75l

Barbaresco from Prunotto is crafted from selected Nebbiolo vineyards in Piedmont and captures the character of this noble grape. The bouquet reveals red berries, dried roses, licorice and gentle spice. On the palate the wine is full-bodied yet refined, with ripe fruit, hints of leather and tobacco and a well-judged line of acidity. Firm but silky tannins provide structure and length. The finish lingers with forest fruits, savoury spice and a touch of truffle. This is a classic partner for slow-cooked meat dishes, lamb, mature cheese or traditional Piedmontese cuisine with truffles.

Prunotto

Across the hills of Barbaresco, Prunotto carries more than a century of Piedmont heritage. Founded in 1904 as the co-operative “Ai Vini delle Langhe”, the winery took on its modern identity in the 1920s under Alfredo Prunotto, who gave the name a global voice. In 1956 he handed the reins to oenologist Beppe Colla, an early pioneer of single-vineyard bottlings that helped define the Langhe’s cru mindset....

The grape variety: Nebbiolo

Nebbiolo produces pale but powerful red wines with cherry, rose, spice, high acidity and firm tannins.

It is especially famous in Barolo and Barbaresco and pairs beautifully with braised meat, truffle dishes, mushrooms, game and aged cheese. Nebbiolo
