Schieferkopf Riesling trocken, Lieu dit Fels 2020 0,75l
Schieferkopf Riesling Lieu dit Fels shows how precise and refined Riesling can be on Alsatian blue schist. The vines grow on a steep south‑east facing slope with very shallow, stony soils and are harvested carefully by hand. After a long pressing the juice ferments with native yeasts and matures in large old casks on fine lees. The bouquet reveals yellow stone fruit, citrus, meadow herbs and a touch of acacia honey. On the palate the wine is crystalline and concentrated yet delicate, combining ripe fruit with salty minerality and racy, citrus‑driven acidity. A long, gently smoky finish makes it a superb partner for grilled fish and flavourful, herb‑driven dishes.
Where blue schist breaks through the surface in Alsace, Schieferkopf in Alsace draws its unmistakable line: parcels such as “Fels” near Bernardvillé, steep, windswept and shallow-soiled, push the vines to root deep and speak with tension....
The Great Vertical Tasting: A wine through the mirror of time.
Anyone who compares wine across several vintages discovers its development in a particularly impressive way. A vertical tasting reveals how style, maturity, structure and aromas change over time – and helps to find the right vintage for personal taste or a special occasion.
The grape variety: Riesling
Riesling is a noble white grape famous for citrus fruit, stone fruit, floral notes and vibrant acidity. It can be dry, off-dry, sparkling or beautifully sweet.
Its freshness makes it ideal with seafood, pork, spicy Asian cuisine, cheeses and desserts. Riesling is one of the most expressive and versatile white wine grapes.
