| Guidalberto from Tenuta San Guido is a Tuscan red based on Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot that offers a more approachable take on the estate’s Sassicaia style. The grapes come from vineyards around Bolgheri whose proximity to the sea brings freshness and a subtle saline edge. The bouquet opens with blackberry, wild berries and plum layered with Mediterranean herbs, juniper, cedar wood, lavender and spice. On the palate Guidalberto is juicy, silky and complex, with ripe, fine grained tannins and vibrant, well integrated acidity. Herbal nuances, dark chocolate and gentle toast notes carry into the long, elegant finish. This modern Super Tuscan is delicious in its youth and pairs beautifully with grilled meats, braised dishes, lamb and mature hard cheeses. | |
