Il Macchione Vino Nobile di Montepulciano 1993 0,75l

Vino Nobile di Montepulciano from Il Macchione is based on Sangiovese grown on gently rolling hills near Montepulciano, farmed without herbicides and with great respect for the soil. The colour is deep ruby. The bouquet combines dark cherry, plum and wild berries with violet, tobacco, leather, herb notes and a touch of cocoa. On the palate the wine is generous and mouth filling yet poised, with firm but ripe tannins and lively acidity. Flavours of ripe red fruit mingle with spice and subtle toasted nuances. The finish is long, savoury and slightly earthy. A characterful Tuscan red to serve with braised dishes, grilled meats and aged cheeses.

The grape variety: Sangiovese

Sangiovese is Italy's leading red grape, famous in Tuscany. It brings cherry fruit, herbs, savoury spice, lively acidity and firm structure to many classic Italian wines.

It pairs beautifully with tomato pasta, pizza, grilled meat, roast pork, mushrooms and pecorino. A versatile choice for lovers of elegant, food-friendly reds. Sangiovese
