Domaine Terlato Shiraz,S-Block Saddleback,Pyrénées 2021 0,75l

S-Block Saddleback is the more opulent Shiraz from Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier, grown in the cool Pyrenees region of Victoria. The poor, stony soils and continental climate shape an intense, darkly spiced expression of the grape. The bouquet shows ripe red and black fruits, cranberry and sloe alongside hints of light liquorice, dark chocolate and a touch of chilli heat. On the palate Saddleback is broad, rich and velvety, with very high but ripe tannin intensity and deeply concentrated fruit. Despite its power the wine remains balanced and never jammy, lifted by fresh acidity and underlying minerality. This impressive Shiraz is a great choice with slow cooked beef, lamb rack, game dishes and boldly flavoured barbecue food.

Ageing in French oak gives S-Block fullness, dark spice and finely integrated tannins.

Domaine Terlato

In Australia’s Victorian Pyrenees, Domaine Terlato & Chapoutier turns distance into precision: the partnership began in 2000, and the Great Western hills now carry Syrah with a touch of Viognier on clay‑and‑gravel, podzolic soils over schist and quartz....

The grape variety: Syrah / Shiraz

Syrah, also called Shiraz, is a dark-skinned red grape known for blackberry, plum, pepper, smoke, spice and firm structure. It ranges from elegant Rhône styles to rich Australian Shiraz.

It pairs with lamb, beef, venison, barbecue, sausages, mushrooms, olives and hard cheese. A bold, savoury red for lovers of depth and spice. Syrah / Shiraz
