The Kurayoshi Pure Malt 8 Years Old is produced by the Matsui distillery in Japan’s Tottori Prefecture. It blends Scottish and Japanese malt whiskies aged in carefully selected American white oak casks then proofed with volcanic stone filtered spring water. The nose combines toffee, vanilla and red berries with delicate floral hints, honey and gently toasted malt. On the palate it is elegant and balanced, showing notes of orange peel, pink peppercorn, caramel and warm oak spice. Macadamia nuts and subtle strawberry and citrus tones shape the smooth, medium length finish. A refined yet approachable pure malt that is enjoyable neat, over ice or in a high quality Japanese style highball.
