Domaine Vacheron Sancerre Belle Dame rouge 2019 1,5l

Sancerre Belle Dame Rouge from Domaine Vacheron is a biodynamic single-vineyard Pinot Noir grown on flinty silex soils. In the glass it shows a muted garnet colour with hints of violet. The nose is deep and complex, offering wild raspberry, mulberry, blackcurrant, elderberry and sloe wrapped in wood smoke, liquorice, cinnamon and dark chocolate. On the palate Belle Dame is powerful yet silky, with concentrated dark fruit, fine grained tannins, precise acidity and a pronounced smoky, mineral tension. The long, layered finish echoes red berries, spice and wet stone, giving the wine an almost Burgundian refinement. A serious Sancerre rouge that pairs beautifully with duck breast, slow cooked game birds or mature Chavignol goat’s cheese.

The grape variety: Pinot Noir

Pinot Noir is a refined red grape known for red cherry, raspberry, floral notes, spice and silky tannins. It is most famous in Burgundy but thrives in many cool-climate regions.

It pairs beautifully with duck, roast chicken, mushrooms, salmon, pork and game birds. Its fascination lies in finesse, fragrance and the way it expresses origin. Pinot Noir
