Benanti Rovittello - Albarello Particella 341 Etna DOC Rosso Riserva comes from a single parcel of old vines trained in the traditional alberello system in Contrada Rovittello on Etna’s northern slope. The blend, based predominantly on Nerello Mascalese with a small proportion of Nerello Cappuccio, undergoes an extended maceration on the skins before being matured gently in large wooden casks and in bottle. The nose is complex, with sour cherry, blood orange, dried rose, tobacco, leather, spices and hints of tar and smoke. On the palate the wine is powerful and structured yet refined, with ripe, assertive tannins, lively acidity and impressive depth. Distinct volcanic minerality adds a cool, almost iron-like note. The finish is very long and layered, clearly signalling significant ageing potential. A great Etna Rosso Riserva for patient drinkers, superb with braised beef, game, mature hard cheeses or simply as a contemplative wine on its own.

Maturation in large French oak casks gives the Riserva depth without masking the elegant minerality.
